Amid the poverty, death, and suffering caused by World War II, 18-year-old Yehia retreats into a private world of fantasy and longing. Obsessed with Hollywood, he dreams of studying filmmaking in America but struggles to pursue his dream, given the constraints of his life in the middle class and the horrors of war.

Abderrahim is a mechanic and singer in his spare time. One day, he receives a car to repair, driven by a very beautiful girl. It's love at first sight. They want to get married and start a family, but the girl's parents do not view this love favorably. They decide to marry their daughter to another man. Subsequently, Abderrahim became a famous singer. The loss of her love leaves the young girl in a state of silence from which only Abderrahim can break her.

We are at the beginning of the sad period of violence that Algeria experienced in the 1990s. In a town in the interior of the country, Azzedine, a journalist by profession, is preparing an adaptation of Molière's play Tartuffe for the municipal theater. The newly elected mayor tries to stop him. Azzedine and his companions stick together and ignore the threat hanging over them. Will they succeed in fulfilling their dream?
