Harry Palmer heads a private investigation business based in Moscow. His associates are Nikolai "Nick" Petrov, ex-CIA agent Craig, and ex-KGB Colonel Gradsky. They take on the job of finding 1000 grams of weapons-grade plutonium stolen from the Russian government, though they do not know the identity of their client.

Jessica, an American ballerina, reluctantly enrolls in a Russian dance academy, where she meets the charismatic choreographer Anthony. A dead ringer for his long dead lover, Jessica becomes his favorite student -- and his personal obsession.

When long-time British agent Harry Palmer loses his job because the Cold War is over, he's promptly approached by a Russian bossman, Alex. He'll pay Harry handsomely to retrieve it. An ex-spy friend tips Harry off that it's being sent to Beijing by train, aboard which we begin to learn whose side everyone's really on.

A Finn preparing a work on the Russian hunting traditions and customs, comes to Russia to collect materials and is invited to take part in a hunting party. His flamboyant companions include an Army general, with more than a passing resemblance to Aleksander Lebed, a police detective, local forest ranger (a devotee of Zen Buddhism) and some big-city types from St. Petersburg. Inevitably, their good intentions soon give way to endless drinking, visits to local farm girls and much else besides.

A musical retro drama. The story of the heroes of the film "Everyone is Dancing!" is inspired by the poetry of Leningrad lyricists of the 50s and 60s and partly by the motives of Fazil Iskander's story "Retribution". The film tells about the Ligovka district of St. Petersburg, known to every resident of St. Petersburg as a place where punks live.

This charming comedy tracks the lives of several romantic pairs through trials and tribulations. The main focus of the story is a young soldier with a good heart but little ambition and his fiancée, who feels torn when a charming and sophisticated intellectual enters her life and sweeps her off her feet. There are also several side stories, also all dealing with relationships, most significantly the soldier's mother, whose comfortable but unexceptional marriage is threatened when a past love returns to her life.

Military doctor General Klenski is arrested in Stalin's Russia in 1953 during an anti-Semitic political campaign accused of being a participant in so-called "doctors' plot".

The film consists of five short stories that reflect five stages (1947 — 1950 — 1957 — 1967 — 1982) the action programs of the heroine of the film, from the age of fifteen, rushed to a typical goal for that time — to smile from the front page of a central newspaper. Her fate is not simple: unhappy love, life with the unloved, a labor colony, love again, then love in return, earthquakes, fires, devastation. The heroine is getting closer to the goal and nothing can stop her..

Via the New York Times: "...a severely obscure meditation on pre-revolutionary Russia in the form of an encounter between a ghost from the past and the ghost's present-day guardian. In fact, the two characters seem to be the shade of Anton Chekhov and the young man who tends a Chekhov museum in the Crimea, though that is never made explicit."

Tragic circumstances brought the Spirit, a former "Afghan", to a prison cell, where he found himself alone with the German baron Maximilian von Stoltz. The spirit once lived by the sea, in a house where there were a woman and a child. Served as a paratrooper in Afghanistan. Unknown paths led him into the criminal world, he has 11 murders to his name, the prospect of capital punishment.

A successful doctor is visited by her old friend, a famous writer. They used to be close, but their friendship ended when they both fell in love with the same man. At first, their reunion seems to be going well, but as they talk, their old grudges and resentments resurface and threaten to ruin their renewed connection.
