Aisha, a 13-year-old girl, lives in 11th century Al-Andalus, where fireworks displays are the most popular entertainment and the one big passion of young Aisha, who dreams of becoming a professional rocketeer one day. Someday, the adventurous alchemist Txawir comes to town, using Aisha for his own purposes and convincing her to steal a banned book from the Calipha’s library without permission. Txawir disappears with the book, for which Aisha’s father is blamed. To recover the book and save her father, Aisha embarks on an adventurous journey…

Chavela Vargas and Federico García Lorca are the main characters of this story. Poetry and music are the places of their meetings. Chavela explains when he lived in the same room where Federico García Lorca lived decades ago, was visited by a bird that contained the soul of the Spanish poet. In her last year of life, Chavela fulfills her last wish: to make a tribute to Spanish poet and finally meet him in the ranks of death. The Nightingale and the Night is a documentary that chronicles the transition from Chavela life to death, her union with Federico, dissolving the borders between reality and dreams.

Lluc, a former academic with strong cultural ties, and Olli, a man who drifted from Finland to the streets of Barcelona, meet while seeking shelter in the same stairwell. Their beginnings are modest, but gradually a connection develops between them, based not on pity but on shared humanity.
