Kaleidoscope

Shashi, an urbane doctor, returns to his native village, a place seemingly mired in a backward way of life, for a short visit. As he becomes closely involved with the villagers, Shashi’s short stay threatens to become permanent.

It focuses on the tradition of a musical family and how foreign intrusion creates disturbance in it. “A musician not only goes through music but his or her surroundings and environment molds him or her growth as well. Narsimha, an old ventriloquist and 'horbola' lives in a decrepit locality of Kolkata. Once a favourite among children, he barely manages to survive now and is reduced to a shabby madman. Abandoned by his family, he has a solitary friend in a local 'kabadi-wala', who, all of a sudden, brings him an old, majestic chair- a 'kedara'.
