Two young girls are sent away to live with their uncle, which sets off a chain of events resulting in an Indian attack on the town.

The old inventors daughter is a mission worker. She makes a convert of a young crook and eventually becomes engaged to marry him. But her father does not approve of him, and shows him the door when he learns from a detective the record of his daughter's suitor. The inventor's plans are stolen by an unscrupulous manufacturer, and the crook volunteers to recover them.

The young son of a wealthy Mexican house returns home from school. He is the only son of a widowed mother, whose heart beats only for him. He becomes fascinated by a pretty but low barmaid, who really returns his love, he being the first person she has truly loved.

During the American Revolution, a young soldier carrying a crucial message to General Washington is spotted and pursued by a group of enemy soldiers. He takes refuge with a civilian family, but is soon detected. The family and their neighbors must then make plans to see that the important message gets through after all.

The girl's lessons from the young station agent on the manipulation of the telegraph code served her in good stead. By it, hemmed in on all sides at the lonely farmhouse, she was able to save both herself and her father's money from desperate tramps, an experience which is grippingly illustrated in this Biograph melodrama.

Isabella De Ortega rides over to the mission for her music lesson. While she is there, pirates attack the mission and loot its treasures. The monks hide her in the tower, but she is discovered by the ruffian crew and in grave peril until the Americano, leader of the pirate band, rescues her at his own risk.

The Parson and his friend Pete, a worthless inebriate of the village, in a drunken sleep by the roadside. His cure has been tried often, but in vain. The Parson's friend suggests a novel scheme, that of taking him to his home, waking him there and make him believe he is in paradise; then feeding him wine until he is asleep again, placing him back in the same place in the road. The scheme worked to perfection and it looks as if the village saloon will get no more of Pete's money for drink.

The brothers choose between love and gold. The three brothers sought the gold regions. The fourth chose to be a stay-at-home. He sought just love, and love was his reward: in the happiness of two old parents and the heart of a sweet girl. But those in the gold regions, each for himself, seeking just gold, found their ill rewards in the sordid earth of the Bad Lands.

Under police espionage, Crooked Joe is living with his wife and baby when Norris, his former pal, tries to interest him in a job. He refuses, and subsequently earns his old pal's animosity when Norris makes advances to his wife. Norris "frames" Joe, and he is sent to prison on a charge of robbing his employers.

Success is often coveted instead of honestly earned. Through honest effort the farmer was enjoying the fruits of his labor. A large irrigation well was among his new acquisitions. Therein his designing helpers held him prisoner while they left with his wealth and his daughter. There is an old saying, however, that an evil purpose always defeats its own end by some committing act.

Harshly treated by her stepfather, a little girl lavishes her affections upon a mongrel. A doctor, summering near the farm, wishes to purchase a dog for vivisection and the girl's stepfather offers to sell her pet for five dollars. Panic-stricken, she runs away during the night, and is found next morning by the doctor's wife, fast asleep in a field with the dog.

Olga, true to the cause their hearts held so dear, stole the evidence which would send her friends to Siberia, hut Orlanof, of the Russian police, sentenced the prisoners without it. Ivan, Olga's brother, in hiding, volunteered to do away with Orlanof. Olga now loved that most hated man and saved him with her own life.

Marion lives in a house that becomes a place of safety—or a "refuge"—for a man fleeing from danger. A group of criminals waits for a wealthy homeowner to leave before breaking into the house to threaten his wife and daughters. The family members barricade themselves inside one of the rooms for safety as the thieves attempt to break through the door. Upon discovering the situation, the father rushes back home in a desperate attempt to save his family from intruders.

After his daughter's return the jeweler attempted to break the partnership he had with the crook. His partner, however, won the girl's love, and threatened to expose the father if he attempted to break off the match. By a clever ruse the father set the gangsters against their leader. His plan did not prove altogether successful.

William is drawn to Edward's wife, Helen. Sensing his feelings might lead him into an affair, he decides to go away. As he says goodbye to Helen, Edward spies from behind a curtain. Soon afterwards Edward shoots himself, believing Helen can be happier with William. When William returns to convince Helen to become his wife, she refuses, blaming herself for Edward's suicide.

Hard as nails and as strong winded as a gale in March, Red Hicks may have been a bit "chesty," but he was in perfect trim. The town depended on the champion, O'Shea, the fighting Irishman, to make soft putty of the world famous pugilist, but on the day of the fight there was no O'Shea. The supposition was he did not have the price: and other domestic difficulties interfered. O'Shea's trainer, however, solved the problem and Bed Hicks found his Waterloo.

A blind princess is informed that her sight can be restored by the first kiss of unselfish love she receives. She remains blind until a humble poet steals a kiss.

Two miners are fighting over a woman, and one is about to murder the other in his sleep. At the critical moment, the woman introduces her fiancé from the city.

A young couple must endure a tedious visit from their aunt until their friend offers to find a way to make her leave.
