Within days after the mysterious new student Kawakami Tomie joins a high school classroom, all hell literally breaks loose. Simple in-fighting between boys and girls over Tomie's oppressive shadow soon gives way to mind-breaking violence, culminating in a grizzly dissection that ultimately leads to suicide, insanity, and even more violence.

A young girl, who lost her father at her early age, is kidnapped by a school teacher. He strips, binds and attempts to rape her. For the next few days she tries to escape but in vain. Later, she becomes used to the life with him. Even when she has a chance to run, she chooses to stay. Slowly, their relationship becomes a creepy half-paternal, half-romantic liaison.

Former yakuza underling Kazuma Kiryū has recently been released from prison after a lengthy incarceration and is trying to piece his life together and distance himself from his yakuza past. Unfortunately, Kiryū's problems slowly escalate as he is pursued by a former associate, the baseball-bat-wielding psycho Gorō Majima, who has a grudge to settle with Kiryū.

He performs the hit and then flees from Hong Kong police, who are wrestling with internal problems of a model cop and his son, who is also on the force and who was told by his dad not to become a police officer.

They should be," murmurs Minami (played by Kumiko Aso), one of the two leading female characters in Yunagi no Machi, Sakura no Kuni, as she lies dying in 1958, her life brought to a premature end by sickness resulting from her exposure to atomic bomb radiation. This is a story about those who at least initially survived the first U.S. atomic bombing of 1945 and their descendants in contemporary times. The film, based on a comic by Fumiyo Kono, jumps between the two time frames and quietly depicts the sorrow and mortification experienced through the everyday lives of laid-back and soft-spoken Hiroshima people. Only a few scenes of the bombing and the ensuing devastation are featured.

The story of Teke Teke, the ghost woman with no legs, continues. Conflict arises between a group of high school classmates, and Teke Teke starts hunting them down one by one.

Naoto Tsugimura, head of customer service at a major food and beverage company, receives a strange complaint from an angry caller who claims to have found insects in his mineral water. Tsugimura is unable to appease him, and soon finds that this mysterious claimer is beginning to infiltrate his life, harassing and stalking him, but always out of Tsugimura's sight. Nothing Tsugimura does - apologizing, fighting back - seems to make any difference. Meanwhile the claimer's rage continues to escalate, until finally reaching a shocking conclusion.
