A couple in love spends time away from civilization, but the sudden arrivals of the younger sister and then the girl's ex-boyfriend violate the country idyll.

Due to his father's work, Kolya and his parents move to Africa. Everything that surrounds him: the embassy where his father works, a villa behind a high fence, and a closed school. Kolya's only friend is the African gardener's daughter Loli. Despite the language barrier and the difference in traditions, they find means to understand each other without words.

The adult hero of the picture - the captain of the voyage - was captured by the African natives. At home, in a seaside town, he still had a pregnant wife. The boy was born without a father, and raised him in the belief that dad heroically died. And now, after nine years, he returns ... the leader of the African tribe. Father and son meet each other throughout history, and eventually find a common language.

A dyslexic graduate of a pedagogical institute is forced to become a teacher of Russian language and literature in a secondary school. Despite the illness, he manages to establish contact with the students, who in the end will help him keep his job.

While investigating the destructive relationship of his parents, Efim, the filmmaker, stumbles upon a dark secret concealed from him. This revelation rocks his world and he sets out on a cinematic journey to heal his wounded soul.
