King Florestan XIV invites all the fairies in the kingdom to the christening of his daughter Aurora. As they bestow beauty, generosity, and grace upon the princess, they are interrupted by the arrival of the horrible fairy Carabosse, who, furious at not having been invited to the festivities, casts a curse on Princess Aurora: on her 16th birthday, she will prick her finger and die. Recorded on April 7 and 10, 2025, at the Opéra Bastille in Paris's 12th arrondissement.

Sergei Prokofiev's setting of the fairy tale "Cinderella" premiered at Moscow's Bolshoi Theater in 1945. In 1986, Rudolf Nureyev, then ballet director of the Paris Opera, choreographed the ballet anew and transposed the story into a private cinema, with sets reminiscent of Fritz Lang's "Metropolis." ARTE shows the Paris Opera performance from December 31, 2018.
