In Egypt forties and before the 14th of July revolution in 1952, a poor family lives in a prince's palace where the father works as a gardener. The family has two children Ali and Hassan. Ali grows up liking the prince's daughter who loves him too. Now grown ups, they realize how impossible this love story is. Joining the army, Ali fights in Palestine while the brother joins the police and is part of the King's guards. Ali gets back from Palestine and joins the secret military movement that will soon rule Egypt, The Free Officers. The revolution starts and the Free Officers are now in charge, putting Ali against his brother as a guard for the king and also against his lover, the prince's daughter as the revolution will confiscate all her family's wealth.

A man suffers from a heart attack so he sends his daughter to get medicine for him. After providing the medicine for the girl, the pharmacist discovers that he has unknowingly mixed a poisonous elixir. Reporting what happened to the police, the chief officer of Cairo starts an intriguing, full-fledged campaign to save the man before he takes the lethal medicine.

In Egypt, Nahid meets Amina's husband, pretending to be his wife. Amina's husband discovers the truth and fights with Burhan. In the fight, Enayat, Amina's husband's lover, is injured. He kills Burhan to make it look like Burhan killed Enayat and then committed suicide. Amina's husband lives with Nahed pretending to be his wife.

Samir marries Nabila and they live with her mother. Samir’s mother arrives and a quarrel begins, and both mothers-in-law ignite war in the house, which becomes an unbearable hell due to the many quarrels. Samir is guided to marry his mother-in-law and one of his friends actually proposes to her. Nabila gives birth to a child, and this increases the intensity of the quarrels. Who is he? Elham marries Nabil and moves to live with him in his mother's house. Her mother-in-law starts seeing Elham as an intruder while she's the lady of the house. When Elham didn't have kids, she wants Nabil to marry Elham's friend.

Hussein's family objects to his relationship with dancer Suhair, but he marries her, and she gives birth to Amal. Hussein goes to his family to tell them that he had a daughter. On the way to share this news, he is hit by a car. Before he dies, he tells his uncle about his wife and asks him to help his newly born daughter Amal. However, the uncle becomes a trustee of Hussein's will and covets it.
