Yu-lan came to Taipei from southern Taiwan. She has got a successful career as a dancer. When her foster mother gets dementia, she has no choice but to retire and go back home. However, the trial and tribulation of her new life have reminded her of her childhood memories. During an argument with her mother’s foreign caretaker, the cause of her foster brother’s death and the secrets about her biological mother are gradually being revealed... As a woman of the advanced maternal age, Yu-lan has found herself unexpectedly pregnant with a baby. Following her heart, she has entered the circle of destiny. Departure means coming back, and her starting point is also her finish line. Is birth adjacent to or far away from death? Maybe at last, you’ll see that the shadow you met will be also the light to guide your life.

What Mei wants is a simple relationship with someone who loves her dearly. However, fate decides otherwise. After a failed marriage and an immoral affair with a married man, she gives up on life because of one setback after another. For the past decade, she has barely survived with her mentally disabled son, Diku, and her dementia mother. But when she bumps again into her ex-husband, Zhi-yuan, her life is no longer quiet. His glove puppetry saves her show. She feels as if she is about to get the happiness that she wants. However the success of her show has incurred her rival’s displeasure. The show is forced to be canceled. In the meantime, an accident kills Zhi-yuan, which makes her so depressed that she intends to end her miserable life. While Standing by the sea, Mei finally realizes that she has in fact got what she has been searching for. Therefore, she runs back home to try to prevent an imminent tragedy from happening.

Through the process of a family from their hometown, who left their hometown to work in the city, the film expresses the emotional changes of the family. Although the shape of love is not the same, it will always be there.

To raise awareness about energy issues, we adopted a documentary-style cinematic approach to follow musicians recording an album close to nature. Eleven Meinong Conversations invites music producer and singer-songwriter Wing Lo to return to his sunny hometown of Meinong, a historic Hakka settlement in Taiwan, and fulfil a ten-year musical dream. Lo transforms a solar-powered wooden guest house into a recording studio to record his dream album in his Hakka mother tongue. The film conveys the passion of Lo’s Hakka music and his love of living life close to nature. Through eleven seemingly daily conversations with different characters, Lo’s pure and carefree rural childhood, his nostalgia of leaving home, and his loss of a beloved family member, are transformed into timeless, radiant melodies that touch the heart.
