Festival panafricain d'Alger is a documentary by William Klein of the music and dance festival held 40 years ago in the streets and in venues all across Algiers. The film is based on "Scorpion, autopsie d'un complot" by Etienne Bolo and Alain Jaubert (Balland, 1978), which tells the story of a plot targeting Algeria after the nationalization of hydrocarbons during Valéry Giscard d'Estaing's seven-year term.

A revolutionary militant is killed during the repression of May 1945. His son, who is unaware of the real circumstances of the murder, ends up being attached to the ideal for which his father died.
