Ayaka is a bored housewife, stuck in a very ordinary and loveless marriage. Her only escape is to the fantasy world she creates. She begins having dark and graphic nightmares about being in prison and getting molested by the prison guards and warden. The plot thickens as Ayaka's husband's financial hardships cause both of her worlds, the real world and the imaginary one, to collide.

"Kagaya" is a downtown public bathhouse run by the widow Emiko (Yuko Koma). The drama unfolds at Kagaya, involving various human relationships among her only daughter Hitomi (Yoko Satomi), the bathhouse manager Shuji (Yuichi Minato), the lodgers, the man who courts Hitomi, and the prostitutes.

Kumiko repeatedly attempted suicide by faking it, in order to test her husband Shiro's love. Yusaku, Shiro's mentor and the owner of a martial arts dojo, harbors feelings for Kumiko. Makoto, the only student at the dojo, secretly loves Yusaku. When Kumiko unexpectedly ends up living with Yusaku, she is tormented by the jealous Makoto.

He brings home Natsumi, a female college student he met at a telephone dating service, and spends his days having sex. One day in the afternoon, Senkichi, looking for an outlet for his sexual desires, ends up having sex with Reiko, who is sexually frustrated...
