Hundreds of years ago, when Genghis Khan conquered the steppes of Asia, falconry was one of the most important forms of hunting in the world. Thousands of falconers with their impressive birds of prey were sent ahead of the army to secure food supplies and provide the army with valuable game. This film accompanies falconers and their birds during training, at their shows, and in their private lives. For some, birds of prey are still their livelihood, almost as they were centuries ago. For others, it is just a hobby. But for all of them, a bird that is released into the world and returns to its owner's hand again and again out of affection and deep trust is a unique connection between wild animal and human being that cannot be replicated. The use of hunting scenes in which animals are harmed has been deliberately avoided.
