The lake is a pool of light. The strong, graceful Odette captivates us, surrounded by arching backs, spiralling arms and mesmerising formations. David Dawson’s daring, visceral choreography from Swan Lake is perfectly paired with the rich, romantic Tchaikovsky score in this short film, The Swan, directed by Eve McConnachie. With an all-female cast led by Constance Devernay-Laurence, The Swan is a powerful showcase of our dancers’ strength and connectivity.

A striking and creative celebration of French artist Yves Klein and what has become the world's most famous shade of blue. Directed by Oscar Sansom and produced by Scottish Ballet and Forest Of Black the film is surreal, surprising and bursting with ideas. Sophie Laplane's distinct, quirky choreography paired with Sansom's striking visuals create a film that brings together the very best of both mediums in a piece that is a true joy to watch.

Choreographer Sophie Laplane has reimagined her quirky and curious Oxymore as a short film.
With 28 doors and 36 dancers, Indoors is a playful work by Sophie Laplane, set to Mozart’s ‘Papageno, Papagena’. Rehearsed via Zoom and recorded during the Covid-19 lockdown, this short film explores ways we can open our doors to new possibilities, all in Laplane’s distinctly unique style.
Frontiers questions traditional gendered roles in classical ballet by refusing to adhere to dated stereotypes: women powerfully command the space, men intimately embrace each other. Frontiers contrasts the fluidity of the human form with the brutalist concrete motorways that cut through the heart of Glasgow.
Scottish Ballet’s Prometheus & Epimetheus investigates the relationship between technology and our inability to see far enough into the future as we continue to advance. Motion captured and digitally augmented, Prometheus & Epimetheus is a collaboration between the first ever Digital Artist in Residence Zachary Eastwood-Bloom and choreographer Alexander Whitley with music by Ash Koosha.

Filmed in Scottish Ballet’s technical workshop during the Covid-19 lockdown, Trace is a short film commissioned for the 2020 Edinburgh International Festival. This touching duet was first performed live by the company at Dance Odysseys, a series of works presented by Scottish Ballet and Gelabert Azzopardi Companyia de Dansa during the 2013 Edinburgh International Festival.
Scottish Ballet's first ever Digital Artist in Residence, Zachary Eastwood-Bloom, builds on his visually innovative collection of works, collaborating with three choreographers and composers to create Technology//Mythology//Allegory - a series of three new works under The Fates. Motion tracked and digitally augmented, The Fates is a collaboration between Zachary Eastwood-Bloom, choreographer Nicholas Shoesmith and composer Ben Chatwin. The Fates explores notions of autonomy and control in a digital society.
The Shimmering Extraordinary, created by Emmy Award-nominated director Fx Goby, is a collaboration between Scottish Ballet and Nexus Studios.
