Tóth Manci, a milliner turned dancer, meets Pali, a handsome banker, and falls madly in love. But she waits in vain for a word of encouragement from him, because he loves Lili, the belladonna. So Manci, in her grief, goes to Russia. By the time Pali realizes that he loves Manci too and wants to follow her, war breaks out, and he can only follow her as a soldier.

Solicitor Lukács is well known for his expertise in divorce. He lets a room and while he is away, Csahos, his articled clerk, in charge of business affairs in the absence of the solicitor, leaves almost all of the flat to Székely Klári, a pretty university student. Lukács, while driving his car to Siófok, accidentally bumps into his wife and their friend, Bognár Miklós. Misunderstanding the situation, he asks for a divorce.
