Carl Størmer was walking around Kristiania in his day with his detective camera and taking pictures of people; captured situations, meetings, reactions and looks in a way that was not thought possible at the time. The film not only tells the story of the making of the images, but also about the city, the people and about photography as such.

The smoking corner at school. Here some teachers stand and smoke, some come, some leave, the days go by. Some words are said, but mostly they stand there and smoke. And out of this we get the story of the old man, the couple in love, the hopeful man and the relationship between them.

A research report on sausages. The film seeks to rehabilitate the hot dog, especially in relation to the hamburger, which has eventually conquered large parts of the fast food market.
