Maurice is a streetwise ginger cat who comes up with a money-making scam by befriending a group of self-taught talking rats. When Maurice and the rodents meet a bookworm called Malicia, their little con soon goes down the drain.

A 12-year-old monkey called Mip struggles to find his place in a world dominated by cats and rodents. A magic map sets him on a perilous quest in search of his roots in the distant land of Empathra and a journey that will teach him that kindness is a superpower.
