Young Nikos leaves Athens for Thessaloniki, where he hopes to become a successful singer. However, he leaves behind his beloved Mary and in Thessaloniki he meets another woman, whom he marries. Mary makes an unsuccessful attempt at suicide. Nikos' wife loses her life in a car accident, and life brings the couple back together again.

Seventies. In the unprecedented setting of an arbëresh community (the Albanians of Italy) in a small town nestled in the hills of Ionian Calabria, Marco, a thirteen-year-old boy, finds himself having to manage a complicated family situation. By chance he discovers that her sister Elisa, a university student in Cosenza, has a reaction with a married man much older than her.

Three childhood friends are discharged from the army and seek ways to become wealthy. They form a partnership and open an entertainment center. Seeing that business is going well, Filotimos forgets his childhood friendships and betrays them, taking over the entire business for himself...
