Families from across the U.S. discuss how they cope with loss and address common misconceptions about grief. Through candid personal stories and conversations with experts in the grief field, the film also presents ideas for how family and friends can better support each other through loss.

The focus is on the bus driver and his need for continuous and absolute concentration. There is emphasis on the potential disaster that is always lurking and that an atmosphere conducive to driver concentration is essential. The result of what happens when a distraction occurs is shown.

The filmed account of a poor woman, Darlene Musselman Myers, and her family in the Appalachian region of Pennsylvania.Begins with 1971 scenes from "Notes on an Appalachia county: visiting with Darlene" and "A day with Darlene", and continues the chronicle of almost twenty-five years in the lives of this poverty-stricken Pennsylvania Appalachian family through interviews conducted from 1983 to 1994 with Darlene, her children, her husband, and her companion.
