A concert movie dedicated to the formation of the World Club of Odesa under the leadership of Mikhail Zhvanetsky. "Let many people be proud of the expanses and fields," says Mikhail Zhvanetsky himself about his favorite city, "someone falls to his favorite birch tree, thinking that it grows only here. The events take place in New York in the apartment of the mother of the owner of a seafood restaurant, Barney Cashman. The man is already over 40. One fine day he thinks that he has lived a gray, boring life: he has never cheated on his wife, never got into a fight, or gotten involved in any adventure.

A documentary shows several contemporary Soviet citizens who are staunch supporters of the discredited Stalin. They include a public prosecutor, a factory foreman, a taxi driver and a schoolmistress.
