When living things, artificial things, geometry shapes, and lines encounter, a new direction is born.

Directed by Japanese filmmaker Ryo Orikasa, this animated short was inspired by Henri Michaux’s book of poetry and drawings of the same name, about his experiences with mescaline. The film explores the limits of language and perception, creating connections between sound, meaning, shapes and movement.

A breath of air, a movement, a touch and, in between, a dissolution. Gestures of everyday life in variation, sensual, floating in pastel colours.

The boys are rehearsing a dance for their traditional initiation ceremony into adulthood; their teacher instructs them. A girl observes the scene but is not allowed to join in. When one of the boys chases after a strange bird, she follows him without knowing why. One day, the boy will no longer be able to see the bird either.

As the Sun threatens to explode and end all life on Earth, Goku wakes up and goes on a Journey to the West, in quest of meaning, guidance and wisdom. His adventures will make him face the most dangerous opponents and will decide the fate of humanity.
