As a newly arrived pianist starts rehearsing, her neighbor starts a sound war that very rapidly brings all the neighbors to their windows. While everyone shouts at each other, the pianist plays till she faints. When the police witness the crowd of hysterical neighbors shouting at each other, they take the side of the pianist, who, after a moment of intense madness, is now playing a serene Mozart piece.

Following the funeral of their friend Dédé, two septuagenarians, Mr. Paul and Bobby, meet up in a neighborhood bistro where they reminisce about the halcyon days of their football glory and their romantic adventures, particularly with Lola, the owner of the establishment. Around them is a young waitress, Bibi, who bears a striking resemblance to Lola, who is apparently absent: the young woman could well be the daughter of their former mistress, and if so, one of the two could be her father.

It is April 1933 and the Nazis have been in power in Germany for just two months. All liberties have been suppressed. Fritz Lang, who has just directed “The Testament of Dr. Mabuse”, is summoned to the private quarters of Joseph Goebbels. The objective of the meeting: to convince the most prominent man in German cinema to work for the Nazi regime.
