The character of Baba is based on a real hermit, Baba Firoz, who lived in a cave in Goldara surrounded by tame animals and supposedly lived to be 127 years old.

It is considered the first feature film made in Kabul by Afghan Film using Afghan artists. It is a kaleisdoscopic tour of Afghanistan's capital before the war, following a young girl as she wanders around Kabul.
