Young New York playboy Stephen Winthrop inherits the entire estate of his wealthy Canadian uncle but pays scant attention to it, preferring the "party" life in New York. He is unaware that the family attorney, Frank Garson, has forbidden hunting on the Winthrop lands in Canada, cutting off the livelihoods of the local villagers. Mary Cartier, goddaughter of the village priest, travels to New York to try to get Stephen to change the policy. He returns with her to Canada, sees what's going on, and lifts the ban, then decides to stay in Canada. Mary returns to New York to try to help Garson's abandoned and ill wife and child, but the wife dies, and Mary brings back the small child to Canada. The villagers, mistaking the child for Mary's, are outraged at this "scarlet woman" flaunting her illegitimate child and attempt to drive her out. Complications ensue.

Safe-cracker Ned Dugan agrees to perform one last robbery, earning him enough money to move his younger brother, Jimmy, out of the city. At the behest of a crooked politician, Ned attempts to steal valuable papers from the home of Mary Callahan, who, coincidentally, is caring for the injured Jimmy. Mary catches Ned in the act, but she refrains from calling the police. Ned repays Mary by abandoning his life of crime, undermining the politician, getting her father out of jail, and saving her impressionable brother from a blackmailer.

A story about wild youth is framed in this early musical from Poverty Row company Rayart that includes such songs as “I Want You to Know I Love You”, performed by Ellalee Ruby and Tommy Christian and his band; “Somebody’s Sweetheart — Not Mine,” “Gypsy Love,” and the title tune. Christian plays Tommy, who reluctantly agrees to lead his band at a dance in a speakeasy where Lulu (Lucy Ames) may catch the attention of a Broadway producer. The club, however, is raided by the police and Tommy not only loses girlfriend Betty (Ruby) but finds himself expelled from college. Taking his band to Broadway, Tommy lands a spot in a high-class revue and is soon joined by a repentant Betty. The youngsters sneak away to get married while Jack Clark performs a furious tap dance.
