A return to the family home after several years to attend her father's funeral leads to expectations for Veronique to take over the village surgery and help with the family olive grove. However there are complications including past family history which light the path ahead for Veronique.

A lonely and desperate man no longer uses the precious gift that allowed him to heal people. Reluctantly, he agrees to help a woman and her young daughter who is tormented by nightmares of the end of the world. Together, on a freezing night, they face an anguishing darkness.
