Luka Banjanin is an unemployed young man living with his parents in Belgrade. He hangs out with few devoted friends who, like him, are yet to find place in a society that discarded young intellectuals. Totally careless about his long-term girlfriend, he suddenly falls for a mysterious woman who seems to appear in the same places as him, and then vanishes as quickly as possible. Believing that he's at the wrong place at the wrong time, Luka wanders from one misadventure to another, gradually losing the contact with reality and living out his own Oktoberfest in his mind.

When she sets off to countryside for work and doesn't call back, he becomes suspicious and decides to solve this sudden departure on his own. The movie was nominated for a Student Academy Award in 1991.

The film scores particularly as a psychological study of a student dropout. It focuses on Pavle Komel, a young man who shuns even the most elementary relationship with previously close friends and acquaintances. A final attempt to find himself via a return to his childhood roots in a rural area, followed by a brief contact with his estranged father, prove fruitless: in the end Pavle decides to quit his studies altogether at the university.

While his marriage is falling apart, a cocky journalist is worried about environmental pollution.
