Widow Katrin, mother of two, meets the love of her life, Max, by chance and wants to follow him to the Namibian bush hospital Guguletho. When she arrives, Max has just had an accident, leaving her with the children Neo and Lindiwe. Katrin plucks up all her courage and decides to work as a doctor again.

Full of idealism, doctor Katrin Berger runs a bush hospital in Namibia together with her colleague Sam. Sensitive Sam feels much more than just collegial friendship for Katrin, but just as he is about to finally reveal his feelings to her, the urbane Stefan, the twin brother of Katrin's late husband, turns up unexpectedly. He claims to be in Africa as part of a humanitarian project. Sam alone seems to sense immediately that Stefan is playing a false game - or is it just his jealousy of his charming rival?
