Playboy Video Magazine was literally a video version of the publication. It included candid celebrity interviews, video editorials, the trademark playmate pictorials, interwoven with commercial parodies and short comedy sketches. The series also covered trends in media; sex, politics, culture, and pop culture.
Playboy's video magazine featuring: "The Great Playmate Hunt"; Candy Loving is the playmate selected from 4000 candidates to represent Playboy on its 25th anniversary. In one of the most amazing talent hunts in history you'll see why! "Sylvia Kristel Profile"; Relive her famous love scenes from Emmanuelle, Lady Chatterley's Lover, and Private Lessons and hear her candid, revealing observations on her life and loves. "Playmate Playoffs"; A 16 playmate swimsuit spectacular! "Playmate Lynda Wiesmeier"; As uninhibited before the camera as she is in the pages of Playboy, a vigorous aerobic workout & an erotic shower. "Dudley Moore Interview"; Behind the scenes on "10", Susan Anton and more! Also features Duran Duran "Girls on Film"
Features a tribute to murdered Playmate Dorothy Stratten, an interview with singer Willie Nelson, a profile of X star Marilyn Chambers, a video centerfold of Playmate Barbara Edwards, a Flashdancers segment starring Linnea Quigley and Brinke Stevens, the Ribald Classic "Lady Chatterton's Lover," comedy spots and more.
The twelfth and final Playboy Video Magazine released in pysical format features video centerfold Ava Fabian, a comedy roast of Tommy Chong, a look back at classic sex symbol Marilyn Monroe, R-rated Candid Candid Camera skits featuring Allen Funt and Michelle Bauer, the erotic vignette "A Tale of Tail," a profile of model Ellen Stohl and much more.
The last-known remaining video in this series, aired only on the Playboy Channel in July 1988, including Playmate host Emily Arth, a story on the dancers of the Crazy Horse Saloon, a parody commercial, a story on the pictorial of Jessica Hahn, a preview of the search for the 35th Anniversary Playmate, a Playmate video shot in Cancun (featuring Cathy St. George, Teri Weigel, & Rebekka Armstrong), a repeat of the Marilyn Monroe segment from Playboy Video Magazine 12, a parody commercial, a softcore segment featuring Playmate Cindy Brooks, and the Perfect Playmate Profile of Emily Arth. There were two other known, but lost, Playboy Video Magazines not released to VHS, one hosted by Eloise Broady & the other by Susie Owens, but very little is known about these episodes, other than brief promos aired on Playboy at Night.
