A noble prostitute is found dead in the toilet of a trendy club. Actually a normal case for Chief Inspector Lukas Laim - he would not know this woman intimately. In addition, the case gets an unexpected twist: Laim and his assistant Tim Berners encounter in the customer file of the victim on the top managers of a pharmaceutical company. Suddenly the sexual offense becomes a serious case of white-collar crime.
Inspector Lukas Laim has the rope from which a corpse is hanging from the bridge on Prater Island cut. There are strange red marks on its stomach. The dead man is a notary from Grünwald who is well known in the city as a patron of Jewish art. And the marks on his stomach are in Hebrew and mean "retribution". Retribution for what? And why the Hebrew writing? Shortly afterwards, Laim learns of a blackmail letter to his mother, signed with the Hebrew word "Shilem". The blackmailers demand 80,000 euros so that the public does not find out that Laim's grandfather made his fortune in the course of Aryanization.
The Munich LKA officer Sandra Rutkowski received an anonymous call in which a star tenor from the Munich State Opera was accused of molesting children. A boy brought to him is said to be locked in the cloakroom of the singer, who is still being celebrated on the stage. When Sandra and the Munich inspector Lukas Laim break down the door to the cloakroom, they find an intimidated, apathetic boy in the closet.
Dirk Reimann was actually supposed to appear as a keynote speaker at a start-up pitching event. Instead, he is found murdered by a punch to the back of the head. Laim and Simhandl take up the investigation.
The body of a Munich publisher is found in the gondola of a Ferris wheel, wearing a suit at the top and nothing at the bottom. A tie is tied around his neck, he has suffocated.
