A two-part screen adaptation of the 1939 children's novel of the same name by Soviet writer Alexander Melentyevich Volkov, based on a reworking of L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Ellie lives in a distant city. One day, the evil witch Gingema conjured a hurricane that took Ellie and her dog Totoshka to the country of the Munchkins. To return home, Ellie and her friends the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion will set off along the yellow brick road to the Emerald City in search of the Wizard who will grant their cherished wishes.
The heroes journey to the Purple Country and confront the witch Bastinda.
A continuation of the musical story "The Wizard of Oz. Ellie and Her Friends." Despite all the difficulties and adversity, the brave little girl Ellie achieved the impossible—defeated evil and returned home.
