The Cairo Trilogy is a trilogy of novels written by the Egyptian novelist and Nobel Prize winner Naguib Mahfouz, and one of the prime works of his literary career.
The life paths of the family of Mr. Ahmed Abdel Gawad during the period of the British occupation, and before the outbreak of the 1919 revolution, starting with the family's patriarch who lives a double life, his son Fahmy who joins a secret political organization, and the older son Yassin who follows his father's footsteps in pursuing women.
10 years after Fahmy died, Ahmed Abdel Gawad returned to his normal life. He falls for Zanouba who is in love with his son Yassin. As Zanouba marries Yassin, Kamal's idealism is compromised when Aida abandons him for a wealthy guy.
The film revolves around the family of Mr. Ahmed Abdel-Gawad through his second and third generations, which consists of Yassin and Kamal the younger son, and the sons of Aisha / Khadija, in the age of young people and political and social transformations and their impact on their maturity and life paths.
