A nerdy teenage girl pretends to be her beautiful, fake twin sister from California in order to become the most popular girl in high school, but when things don't go exactly as planned she learns that being yourself is more important.
When her family goes out of town, Alex and her fellow band geek friend Claire decide to take her brother's red 1966 Mustang on weekend joyride in hopes of appearing cool and impressing her high school crush.
Four girls from different social cliques skip school together and find out that they are more alike than they thought.
