Holly Hobbie is excited about spending Christmas-time with her friends and family. She soon learns of the situation of a widow, Mrs. Deegan and her twin boys, Joey and Paul. She works together with her friends Amy Morris and Carrie Baker. They also take part in a Christmas pageant and Christmas caroling. Meanwhile, Holly's brother Robby dresses up as Santa Claus to earn extra money, but discovers the spirit of giving.

This Holly Hobbie adventure is full of secrets! Holly learns many lessons about the importance of keeping secrets when she accidentally shares Carrie's secret that she's afraid of the dark. Then, Holly makes it a secret Hey Girls project to help her Mom and Aunt Jesse gather sap for the family's famous maple syrup recipe. When they spill the precious sap, rather than tell the adults, Holly and her best friends, Amy and Carrie, find themselves in a frightful situation - gathering more sap in a scary, dark forest!

It's Aunt Jessie's birthday and Holly could not be more excited! There's so much to do - make and deliver the invitations, bake the cake, and practice her special song! But when Holly becomes a bit bossy with Amy and Carrie, the girls learn an important lesson about teamwork and honesty.
